The facelift of one significantly familiar entry-level hatchback, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, has recently been launched. After a 7-year-long commendable run, the second-generation Celerio has received a host of contemporary elements that help its potency against its current rivals. Let’s understand how much the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio differs from the old-generation model which has now been discontinued.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio: New vs Old Dimensions & Exterior

New Maruti Suzuki Celerio Old Maruti Suzuki Celerio
Length 3695mm 3695mm
Width 1655mm 1600mm
Height 1555mm 1560mm
Wheelbase 2435mm 2425mm
Ground Clearance Not Available 165mm
Boot Space 313L 235L

The old Celerio had a graceful boxy stance with sharp edges delineating most panels and a larger grill connecting the somewhat rectangular headlamps. While missing the alloy wheels, the car sported pull door handles instead of the flap-type ones that are common these days.

Compared to the old Maruti Celerio, the new one is curvier and more elegant following the current design language, as can be seen in the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Swift. The new Celerio is underpinned by the fourth generation Heartect platform. The front fascia has a relatively smaller grill that is now chromed. Along with the flap-type door handles and automatic door locking sensors, it gets significantly sleek 14-inch alloy wheels. The headlamps are relatively smaller and suit well to the modern silhouette.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio: New vs Old Interior

The old Maruti Suzuki Celerio had a black-beige dual-tone interior appearance. The sedately simple dashboard design looked substantially nice. The cabin had ample space and the overall craft offered impressive comfort. The car was equipped with all the basic features including power windows, central locking, steering mounted controls, ABS with EBD, dual airbags, and rear parking sensors.

Just like Baleno and Swift, the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio gets an all-black interior. The new steering wheel and instrument console look similar to that of the Maruti Suzuki WagonR. In addition to the increased width and knee room, the refreshed gear lever with a sporty grip is an impressive inclusion from Maruti Suzuki for a budget car. A 7.0 touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is a glaring upmarket upgrade. Moreover, the car now gets a push start/stop, rear defogger, hill-hold assist, and rear wiper. The new Celerio carries forward the manual AC and steering mounted controls.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio: New vs Old Powertrains

Torque 89 Nm 90 Nm
Transmission 5-Speed MT and 5-Speed AMT 5-Speed MT and 5-Speed AMT
Mileage 24.97 - 26.68 km/l 25.97 km/l

Clearly, the powertrain department hasn’t seen much change. The mileage of the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio ranges from 24.97 km/l to 26.68 km/l which is a slightly better fuel economy than the earlier one of 25.97 km/l.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio: New vs Old Price

While the old Maruti Suzuki Celerio was priced from ₹4.65 lakh (Ex-Showroom) onwards, the new Maruti Celerio has its price range of ₹4.99 – 6.94 lakhs (Ex-Showroom). Moreover, if you intend to go for a pre-owned Maruti Suzuki Celerio, the starting price is ₹3.90 lakh.

The upgrades that the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio has received have indeed improvised the looks and spiked the convenience. However, the powertrain seems almost similar. Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been a fairly famous entry-level hatchback and millions are curious about the upgrades in the second-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio. Hopefully, this blog will answer all your questions.
